NE Pond Preserve

NE Pond Preserve. 22 acres. The Conservancy acquired the property with the assistance of a Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources grant in 2020.

Sediment Basins. Two sediment basins were installed in 2022 to capture runoff from farm fields to the east reducing phosphorus runoff to the lake from the areas draining to them by 60 and 85%.

Observation Platform. A short hike and stop at the observation platform provides a chance to rest and enjoy the quiet, natural setting of the pond. You might be rewarded with a view of nesting trumpeter swans and their signets!

Buckthorn Control. Conservancy volunteers and contractors spend thousands of hours controlling buckthorn along this and other Conservancy trails. This invasive shrub takes over vast areas displacing native shrubs and understory trees.
